A Casa Particular is the Cuban version of a Bed & Breakfast. A wonderful and interesting way to get to know ‘the real Cuba’ because you are a guest in a Cuban family’s home. You’ll see how your host-family will go out of their way giving you the best room in their house, as they are committed in making you feel 'a casa'. You have your own bathroom and toilet. There are two kinds of Casa Particulares, literally translated, Private Houses:
The Casas range from intimate B&B to mini-hotel; we work with 'proven' Casas only, all of which have their own specific charm.
Annabel is the proud owner of a Casa Particular that carries her name. The Casa is situated in the Miramar area, an upscale neighbourhood of Havana, where the majority of embassies and consulates are located.
Annabel's house is off a main road and the two guest-rooms on offer are at the quiet street-side, where only local traffic passes through. The neighbourhood cats and dogs are the ones making the most noise.
Annabel divides her time running the house and taking care of her two kids. She's an avid sportsperson, her passion is boxing and she receives training in a well-known boxing school. Her two boys, David and Manuel, have other interests: David likes the teens-parties in a nearby club and Manuel would like to eat pizza everyday. Whereas there is room for their favourite pastimes, Annabel insists that they learn to speak foreign languages, hence twice a week the boys go to English classes. On Sunday, you may find the family at a local swimming pool.

There are many good paladares, private restaurants, nearby, as this is an area where a lot of expats and diplomats reside. A recommendable one is 'Otra Manera', nearby Casa de la Musica, in a peaceful garden setting, where exquisite food is served.
It was the dream of Salvador Marquez to open a guesthouse. For years he was driving a taxi - whereas he has a mechanical engineering background - just to save money to buy a property in his beloved Vedado neighborhood, to turn it into the Casa Particularof his dreams.
Assembling the money to buy the house – a beautiful colonial building of more than 100 years old – was one thing, but renovating the antique spaces into first-class accommodations with modern amenities that would appeal to the discerning traveler, was another.
No es fácil, things are not always easy in Cuba, but finding building supplies is a real challenge. But miracles do exist: Salvador and his three sons managed to turn the house into its former glory, transforming it in what is nowadays the exquisite Hostal Marques de Liz. Here, in the heart of the buzzing El Vedado district, travelers find a super stylish oasis of tranquility. This is a house made with love & pride, and it shows.

Salvador lives in the building and will be pleased to help you out with anything. He is a local of Vedado, hence knows the area really well. The Hotel Habana Libre is very nearby; it is a place of historical importance, as Fidel Castro installed his headquarters in this hotel after his arrival in Havana on January 8 of 1959.
The historical city centre of Havana, known as La Habana Vieja, is where many foreign visitors like to stay during a visit to Cuba's dazzling capital. It is where the city was founded in the early 16th century and history indeed oozes through the fabulous buildings, monuments and the lively narrow streets filled with music.
This is the only part of Havana, or perhaps even of whole Cuba, that has a 'terrace culture'; restaurants and bars extend their services to the outdoors, to the magnificent century old plazas, colourful alleys and splendid roof terraces. From early in the morning until the late hours, you can enjoy a drink, snack or meal in the open air, where you can see Havana city life at its best.

Once upon a time there was a sophisticated lady who moved from her beloved island Cuba to continental Spain, to marry the man of her dreams. She never forgot her homeland though and vowed to return to La Isla Bonita one day.
When she finally did, she fell in love with a derelict palacio, in the historic centre of Cienfuegos, the city also known as the ‘Pearl of the South’. She purchased the palace that dates from the early 20th century and together with her son, renovated it painstakingly, taking five years, restoring it to its former glory.
